Men’s Basketball Heads To Indiana For Two-Game Road Trip

first_img Live Stats Story Links ESPN3 Drake Game Notes center_img Live Audio The Drake University men’s basketball travels to Indiana this weekend for a pair of Missouri Valley Conference road games at Indiana State and Evansville. The two-game trip begins Saturday at 1 p.m. CST when the Bulldogs take on Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind. The contest will be broadcast via The Valley on ESPN3 and in Des Moines on radio courtesy ESPN Des Moines 1350-AM.Earlier this season, the Bulldogs defeated Indiana State in Des Moines, 87-70, as five Bulldogs scored in double-figures in the win behind 47.8 percent shooting from the team.More recently, Drake has lost four-straight games with three of them coming against the top three teams in the MVC standings. However, the final five teams remaining on Drake’s schedule have a combined 22-42 MVC record.In the Bulldogs’ last game, Illinois State’s nationally ranked defense held Drake to just 18.2 percent shooting in the second half to pull away for the win. Despite the offensive slowdown imposed by the Redbirds, Drake remains ranked third in conference scoring with 72.8 points per game against conference opponents.In the Bulldogs’ last road game, a 79-72 loss at Bradley, T.J. Thomas notched his first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. He has 27 rebounds in the last three games.Indiana State returns home after rallying from an 11-point halftime deficit to defeat Bradley on the road, 56-54. Matt Van Sycoc scored 19 points in that win and buried five three-pointers. On the season, Brenton Scott leads the Sycamores with 16.7 points per game.Following Saturday’s contest, the team travels to Evansville, Ind., to face the Purple Aces Feb. 14.
