This year, she led her team to second place in the Suburban League and to a berth to CIF-SS Central Divisional Tournament. The three-time CIF qualifier’s two-round score of 150 at the league finals would have been good enough to earn her a berth in leagues with three or four CIF berth. Ashley Johnson So., Mayfair Last year, she quickly established herself as one of the area’s elite, but she failed to secure one of only two Suburban League berths to the CIF Individuals. This year, Johnson would not be denied, finishing second in league and advancing to the CIF-SS Individual Championships and to the WSCGA Regional Championships. Kimberly Punyasavatsut Sr., Wilson The San Jose State signee and two-time Moore League champion, who placed third at the CIF-WSCGA State Championships in 20004, tied for fourth with Brianna Do at the team CIF Finals and finished tied for 13th during the state competition. Noelle Zavaleta So., Wilson Zavaleta truly elevated her game this season. Over the summer, she worked on her short game, competed in more junior circuit tournaments and placed third at the Moore League finals and 13th at the CIF-WSCGA State Championships. SECOND TEAM Stephanie Hu, So., Cerritos Despite shooting 91 at the CIF-WSCGA championship, the Dons’ No. 2 golfer is one of the best players in the area. Christine Workman, So., Wilson She stepped up big time at the CIF-SS Championships, firing 82 to help the Bruins finish second. Adriana Ortencio, Jr., Los Alamitos After a stellar regular season, Ortencio shot 82 at the CIF-SS Individuals to earn a berth to the CIF-SS Championships. She also led the Griffins to a sixth-place finish in the CIF-SS Southern Divisional Championship. Kelly Yoo, So., Cerritos She shot 86 to help lead the Dons to fourth place at CIF-WSCGA Championship. Chantal Cervero, Jr., Cerritos She recorded one of her best scores of the season (83) to help lead the Dons to third place at the CIF-SS finals and to earn the team a trip to the CIF-WSCGA Regional Championships. She then helped the Gladiators to fourth place at the CIF-SS Southern Divisional Championships and a berth to the CIF-SS Championships. FIRST TEAM Brenda Chhour Sr., Cerritos The Long Beach State signee led the Dons to their second consecutive Suburban League team crown, the CIF-SS Central Divisional crown, third place at the CIF Team finals and a berth at the CIF-WSCGA Regional Tournament.
