FRANCIS Meli, Jon Wilkin and Ade Gardner have all been charged with committing offences during their Tetley’s Challenge Cup fourth round tie against Hull KR on Saturday.Meli will appear before the RFL Disciplinary Panel on Tuesday in relation to a Grade E, intentional high tackle offence committed in the 33rd minute of the game.Wilkin has been charged with committing a Grade C dangerous shoulder charge on Hull KR’s Michael Dobson in the fourth minute of the contest while Gardner has been charged with committing a Grade B dangerous shoulder charge on Kris Welham in the 17th minute.Both Wilkin and Gardner have until 11am on Tuesday to submit Early Guilty Pleas in relation to the offences.If they do, they will be banned for two and one matches respectively.Meli could face a suspension of four to eight matches.
SAINTS have announced their 19-man squad for Friday’s First Utility Super League Round Four clash at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.Kyle Amor and Travis Burns are suspended for the game whilst Jordan Turner returns.Luke Walsh is still a few weeks away according to Head Coach Keiron Cunningham.“I have said all along I would be foolish to try and push Luke Walsh just to go and play at Wakefield or just to play somewhere else,” he said. “It is a long season; he will play and have a big influence on what we do.“When he is ready he will be ready. UPDATE: LUKE Walsh and Luke Thompson have each been banned for two matches and handed £300 fines for Grade C offences following Saints win over Catalans last Friday.Walsh has been banned for a “Dangerous Throw – Throwing player into ground” on Lucas Albert in the 32nd minute.Thompson’s was cited for a “Shoulder Charge – Secondary Contact with the head of an attacking player”.That occurred in the 55th minute on Justin Horo.Both players pleaded not guilty.The club is yet to indicate whether it will appeal.
